About Gloria:
I started my semi-vegan journey about four years ago after traveling around the world and being curious about minimalism and cooking. I took a course at a semi-renown local college to learn about the basics, and was taken aback about how much meat they were encouraging us to use. That and it felt icky prepping, making, eating, and after. I decided to start binge watching vegan cooking shows on YouTube (there weren’t that many) and learning about plant based diets because it felt creative and interesting.
Cut to 2020 and I realize just how much waste I was creating in my eating habits and my moving habits – it was time to find more ways to be resourceful. I personally love infusing culture with my content (I’m Cantonese and born in Canada, heyyy! 🥟🍁) and snapping photos along the way. You can spot me at ROGUE STORIES and Instagram @roguestories.
About Marissa:
Food and I have been best friends since I was a wee little lad.
But, seriously, spending almost 3 weeks on the road each month has allowed my relationship with food to evolve over the decades as I’ve been exposed to different cuisines around the world. I’m fascinated by food as a way to communicate with others, as a way to restore our bodies, and as a way to pass down our shared history to the next generation.
I was a vegetarian for 4 years and quickly learned that there’s so much more to being vegetarian than eating pizza, bread, and pasta all day (hello 20 pounds from traveling around Italy for a summer). These days, 90% of my meals are keto and gluten-free, and I actively opt to eat vegetarian as often as I can.
Aside from food, I’ve taken a very keen interest in my daily consumption, and the impact that my lifestyle has on the planet- particularly when I travel. As result, you’ll find tips on how I’m trying to reduce my impact, and what products I consume in my home with the goal of finding products that are not only good for the environment but also do what they are supposed to.
